The main difference between both solutions is found in the hardware dedication. A Public Datacenter is a pool of dedicated resources (CPU, RAM, storage and network) on a shared physical infrastructure while a Private Datacenter is a completely dedicated infrastructure (cluster of physical servers).
PfSense is a customized FreeBSD distribution adapted for use as a Firewall and Router, managed through a simple web interface. The following features are included:
